USA decided to give India 50% tariff on its goods because India buys crude oil from Russia and refines it and then sells it to other countries as well as use it them selves. The problem is that India is not intimidated by this at all, so they will continue to buy crude oil from Russia and earn a huge profit in the process, furthermore the tariffs will push India closer to China which it has a complicated relationship with, USA has for some time wanting to devide India and China because of BRICS+ but the tariff will do the opposite, namely move India and China closer to eachother, this is the result of the pressure from USA on India, it’s counterproductive but that is what happens when the polarized minds goes full tilt, they can’t think rational nor logically and instead they do as they just did to India which goes against everything USA has been trying to do for some time., anyone remember the standing ovations that the prime minister moddi got in the congress in USA? USA wrongly thought they had secured a polarization on India with a trade deal but India is much more complicated, they don’t think in block politics like the West does, they trade with everyone, they like USA and wants to trade with them but at the same time they don’t want that to limited them on the global market and thus trade with Russia and China among many more, and because India are very proud of their independence from the british colony that they refuse to let others dictate what they can do and can’t do, this goes for everyone including USA. So Trump’s tariff are counterproductive and goes against the longterm interest of USA but because they are so headstrong and stupid against Russia then they are willing to sacrifice even long term geo-political issues.
