First i wanna make sure people understand that i do NOT support Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, I want peace as I think most people do. However i wanna try and bring light to the reason on why this conflict even began. First i need to explain to people how often the narrative is set up to divide people into two groups mainly, the west versus the east or the good versus the bad, or in some cases the even more extreme version Us versus Them, which Hitler used against the Jews in the worst way possible. What i believe to be common in all of the mentioned narratives is that if you become polarised and if you end up in one of the trenches you will lose your ability to think critically of the side you have chosen, you will focus more on the faults and errors of the opposite and your ability to have an objective view declines very fast.
To better make you understand why i think we should be focusing on the narrative i will try and explain what i just wrote with an allegory, I wanna use the game chess to make it easy for you too see what i mean. Who is the master in chess? Well you will probably say Magnus Carlsen or maybe you like Garry Kasparov more or someone else, but you are mistaken, the true Master is the guy who invented the game, see he created the narrative on how the pieces move and what the rules are, no matter how good you play the game you will ultimately be following his Narrative/universe. So remember as we go forward that we need to understand the narrative and who makes it.
Lets go back to Nato, Nato was mainly created as a defensive organization for countries in the west (US and EU countries mainly) against the fear of the USSR (Soviejt Union). After world war 2 an Iron Curtain was created, dividing the EU into a west and an east. At this point we can say it was a reasonable thing that Nato was created, there was a fear of the USSR after the world war 2. Nato grew slowly and in 1955 west Germany joined Nato and in response to that the USSR created the Warsaw Pact to strengthen the eastern EU countries to the USSR and thus the cold war build up continued and it culminated in the building of the Berlin wall in 1961. Though tension where high between the west and the east, and the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 was intense, it never resulted in any real battle.
Lets fast forward to the late 80’s, Mikhail Gorbachev the last leader of the USSR made a deal with the US that east Germany would be reunited with the west Germany, not only would they unify Germany they where allowed to have their own military. The only condition was that Nato didn’t move further to the right ( i.e. the east Germany and the eastern EU countries.). But shortly after Germany united, Nato moved to east Germany, US stance was that they never put the deal not to expand in any writing so they didn’t feel the need to follow it, it was only a gentleman’s agreement but only verbally. Now you can imagine the disappointment of the USSR but fate would have it that USSR within a few years imploded and fell apart, USSR was no more and so the justification for Nato disappeared with it, after all Nato was a relic of the cold war. But instead of disappearing Nato did the opposite, they reinvented them selves to be a global player instead of just the west, and later (2008) they added a Energy Security as a high priority and they continued to move to the east and expanded to alot of old USSR states.
Noam Chomsky said in an interview that Nato’s new goal is to control the global energy systems. Now i read abit about the Nato’s new goal and it does not say directly that they want to control the global energy systems, but it does however mention the fear of disruption in the flow/production of oil and it all so says that a lot of small oil countries are very unstable and sometimes even anti-American , it all so states the need to organize the energy to prevent it from becoming some sort of competition, now if you read between the lines it does look like Nato/US wants to control global energy systems.
Let get back on track, Nato not only made new narrative/goal for its function it all so promised Ukraine and Georgia that they would be included in Nato in the future, this is very important, cause it moves the Nato right up to the borders of Russia and threaten Russia’s sovereignty. Now lets move to 2014 and the Ukraine revolution that removed the corrupt and pro Russia political figure Viktor Yanukovych, now you have to understand that Ukraine had and still has problem with corruption and Vikor Yanukovych was the symbol of it because he made deals with the east (Russia) rather than dealing with the west, you have the polarising effect all ready in play. In response to the revolution and the push towards the west Putin invaded Crimea which was a very strategic point for Russia and they could not let it pass to the west. Now i don’t support Putin or Russia but i do understand that move and in some ways it was impossible to prevent. Ukraine moved towards the west/Nato and even hired Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden into the board of one of the biggest oil/gas company in Ukraine the Burisma. Hunter Biden said him self at some point that the only reason for him to get this job (50.000 dollar a month) was because of his last name. The reason i mention Burisma and the west’s presence there comes down to this man: Victor Shokin, he was responsible for fighting corruption and was fired with the reason that he didn’t do his job good enough. What’s so impressive about this is that his firing was supported by Nato/US, EU, IMF and the world Bank, you have to understand that these are the biggest players and actors when it comes to creating narrative/universe of the economic and political realm in the top and all the way down to the muscle that Nato represents and even down to the lowest level where Hunter Biden is represented. This shows really how much the west was invested in Ukraine and this was in 2016, you clearly see all the power structures in play at every level. Victor Shokin would later claim the reason for him to be fired was because he was investigating corruption in Burisma, there is clearly some sort of west versus east going on here, so ill leave it to you if you wanna investigate it more.
Now let’s get back to Nato, one of Nato’s ways to move into new countries, starts with a joint military exercise, this function’s like a Trojan horse because every time Nato holds these exercises they create some sort of infrastructure to support not only the drills, but at the same time support the presence of Nato in the future. Now i don’t pretend that the Nato’s exercise in Ukraine with only a few thousand troops created much infrastructure but it was in its early stages and could have developed into more later on. Now i don’t pretend to understand all the strategic things that are going on in Ukraine but i found this YouTube video about it and it is very objective and very detailed and informative about all aspects of the strategic view of it. I only want to take a critically look at the tribe called west/Nato in which I ultimately are a part of because i live in Denmark and we are member of Nato and support US without any critic. To end this blog I want to say that i don’t have any monopoly on truth/objectivity or narrative, go find out for your self if my views holds any merit. I will further more stress that i do NOT support Putin and Russia’s invasion, I am very critical of power both in the west and in other places. but my main focus is US and Nato. I will try make more blogs about power and narratives in different areas to show you how things work, my goal is to open op people’s mind and hopefully create a healthy critical mind in my viewers. I want to state that i am not trying to destroy all narrative like some kind of chaotic and disruptive force, a lot of narrative do work and are very useful to operate in I just want people to be able to understand the Chess game allegory and in doing so recognize the narrative around the world, some needs to be challenge and others strengthen. I all so don’t want people to think they should never polarize or join a cause, by all means go deep into the trenches for something you feel like you wanna fight for, just remember to be brutally honest and critical about your own positions as well as others. Polarizing can in competitive sense be a real good thing, like sports or education and science, but politically I feel it often literally kills brain cells and the ability to be objective and critical. Finally i will end this blog with a music videos which i believe to be true when it was made as well as today, plz note that it doesn’t mean i hate Americans, I hate the people in power.
