Donald Trump is serious about acquiring Greenland, not only does it have minerals and resources underneath the ice but the location also is very important for Russia sub marines and east Greenland would be a perfect place to surveil the waters for Submarines. There is also the discussion about who has a claim to the Artic and Greenland, Canada, Norway and ofc Russia are the 4 with a good claim, perhaps even Greenland more so cause it is believe it might be connected under the ice to the artic it self, but none the less then it cannot be argued against that Greenland, despite being a relative poor country depended on a little money from Denmark to make ends meat, lies in a very important location for geo-political reasons.

So even if I dislike Trump and think he is and idiot then I still have to face the geo-political realities that Denmark AND Greenland has to solves and here lies the problem, Greenland has for a very long time wanted independence and Mute B. Egede, the current elected leader has spent the last 4 years digging a trench between Greenland and Denmark, historically the waves has always been high with harsh rhetoric from people from Greenland, but the time for independence is sadly never the right time and question is will it ever be? The truth is that between USA, Russia and Denmark then Denmark is in my view still preferred even if I admit I don’t know the offer from USA nor Russia which ofc is never gonna happen, Greenland once tried to talk about Russia and Denmark replied that USA would invade the moment they tried leaning towards Russia and within 1 hour USA would have conquered Greenland, this is just an example of the rhetoric used when talking about what Greenland can do or rather can’t.

One has to remember as long as Greenland is beholden to Denmark it is protected by EU and in theory Nato since Denmark is a Nato Member and therefor Greenland falls under the protection of both EU and Nato if I am not mistaken, therefor any sale of the country is absurd and stupid BUT reality is that a stronger collaboration with USA in Eastern Greenland is probably needed, ofc Trump and USA are acting like imperialistic pigs but I always like to see Trump and a honest take on USA, the idea he is a isolationist is wrong, he wants to do trade war instead and he still wants USA to dominate the world.

The dream of Greenland Independence cannot be done at all, alone it will fall under USA within 1 hour, so the talks between Greenland and Denmark must meet each other again, they may disagree on many issues but atm Greenland needs Denmark more than ever, the idea of “Sphere of Influence” has hit the online world and people are throwing it out as legitimate reason for USA to want to get Greenland, In that world view we will for sure end with a huge world war with nukes at some point in time, cause the spheres will grow larger and larger until they clash! We need a multipolar world and not imperialisms on steroids.
