As promise some time ago I want to expand my area abit and yes I am no expert in music at all and will be careful to write too much about them but here we go!

Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid were introduced to each other by mutual friends in 2006, 2 years later they created the band called La Roux and their first single aired in december of 2008 and is called Quicksand via the French label Kitsune. The name La Roux is interesting because it is clearly based on Elly Jackson the Singer and main creator, the name is a combination of the often feminine La and Maskulin Roux meaning -the redhaired-.

In march 2009 the second single -In For A Kill- was released and it became very popular thanks to some remixes by Skream and Skrillex and the third single Bulletproof sky rocket in june of 2009 and was number one of UK Charts and sold 2 mio copies in USA , the first album was released in 2009 and by that time they have left Kitsune to Polydor and won a Grammy and was both hailed by critics and was also a commercial success.

Their Second album had problems and after a long time Ben Langmaid left and La Roux published their 2nd album called “Trouble in paradise” in 2014 which gave critical succes but not a commercial one and after that she left Polydor and went independent.

In 2020 Elly Jackson published the third album called Supervision via her own Label Super Colour and has worked together with various people on their music as well. I must admit Im not so well versed in her latest album but that only means I get to explore that and im sure i will be enjoying that.

The Reason I picked La Roux as my first Music review is because I love their style of Synth-pop and amazing vibes hit home and also their live performance is also really good, there is also quite a lot of sensuel and emotionel songs and I really like enjoy them, you may know her best from the single Bulletproof which has been a huge success on TikTok or perhaps in for the kill which has been remixed alot, but she has made many songs which is better imo and therefor worth looking up her albums if you have the chance. Enjoy discovering or re-discovering La Roux, Synth-pop is amazing if done well and Elly Jackson has for sure!!
