I just wanna share some thoughts on the presidential debate, perhaps the last one before the election which is abit weird but hey Democracy today apparently. Anyhow lets get to the debate, it was clear Kamala Harris came well prepared and it paid off, she was the winner but this debate will be quickly forgotten cause it wasent that big of a win and there was not many moments that will be remembered, Trump made 1 massive error by mentioning refugeez eating people’s pets… that was a horrible thing to mention, but this showed how trumps style of talking without and real preparation and sometimes is backfires, but Glen Greenwald said it nicely that Trump never explained many of his points because in other settings like on rally’s people know what he is talking about but in a debate to the whole nation he failed to explain in depth what his points were in some cases, this again shows lack of preparation, not that he cant wing it but that there is a difference in his rally and on tv for the whole nation who dosent know all the points trump is used to talk about.

But to trumps luck then this debate will be quickly forgotten as mediocre by both of them even if Harris came out best, then it was only with a small win that will be forgotten in 1-2 weeks, the effect will be very short lived. Remember the assassination attempt on trump? Every one said that this was the picture that would secure his election but look how fast the huge event has drowned in the mas media with relative little and perhaps only short term effect. Perhaps the mechanism that allows trump to survive scandals also prevent him positive events and that just like trump can get away with alot then any positive event seems to not stick and fade away rather fast.

Anyway a rather poor debate with little memorable moments, the idea with microphones turned off while the other is speaking is questionable imo, I agree having people screaming at each others is wastefull but it did bring alot of energi, it felt more controlled this time and I am unsure wether or not I like this new style of debating, control control control, it can be both good and bad imo but lets see in the future if it stays.

One small funny moment was that Trump got to say to Kamala Harris: Im speaking! which was a phrase or punch line Kamala Harris wanted to use but it was used against her.
