Let me just make a statement first, I have said in the past that I believe anyone who has given money to weapons and the war in Ukraine should also spend just as much after peace is made on reconstruction of Ukraine, now will that happend? Problaby not but that is my view, the west must rebuild Ukraine, now that I have put that out, then I have a huge critique of what Ursula Von Der Leyen is propossing.

First of all we are in a war and the mere idea of talking about EU while we have no idea on what will happend in the war, atm Ukraine is loosing, slowly but surely, now that can change but talking about EU accession talks is very premature and even if it is only a long term plan then there are so many reasons why we shouldn’t include Ukraine into EU, UNLESS they fufill the same rules as everyone else PERIOD!

Failing to do so will not only weaken the EU but it will also open a backdoor into EU for tons of neo-liberalism, American banks has set up “rebuilding bank” inside Ukraine in hopes that people take huge loans in them to rebuild their country, if this could be avoided it should at all cost, Ukraine deserves not to become an enormous debt trap for its people. But Ukraine has experienced a huge Neo-Liberal swing, tons of agriculture land has been sold to massive corperations from USA and even some of EU, the big infrastructure is beeing sold to USA firms like the ports of Odessa among many more and the farmers are using GMO seeds, from Bill Gates is my guess, even if Ukraine has some of the best agriculture land there is in the world.

If Ukraine lives up to EU member standards then ofc it could be considered, but any form of solidarity where we lower the bar for Ukraine will lower the bar in EU and destroy what we actually have, EU is still a reasonable succes even if it isent perfect by all means, even as a lefty then I see a potentiel in EU and I love the voting system and consensus system we kinda have, even if it can make politics hard, but its because changes has to be explained and agreed upon by all before changes should take place, this idea is fantastic cause it forces its members to actually talk to each others and do REAL politics and not just group up and gang on people like we have seen for the last 2 years in EU. Even more sad is that EU was basicly build to prevent wars in the future, it began almost like a kartel company controlling coal and steel which was the basic stuff in the past if you were to build up military arms to conduct war. Witnessing EU fall on that aspect hurts, the war could have been avoided but there were to many interestet in a war, to push Russia away from EU.

We in EU should offer Ukraine the same money we have given to conduct war, this is at least my position, but I admit it is problaby unrealistic, but just giving Ukraine the ability to take up huge loans from American banks would be sad to witness, also dont forget that officially Ukraine owe’s USA over 2 trillion dollars, if we send money alone to Ukraine then some of it might have to go to USA, unless USA can forgive 2 trillion dollars that Ukraine has in debt, My bedt is they will keep it hanging in case Ukraine goes rouge then the 2 trillion dollars could be used as a weapon IMO.

EU also want to undergo a transformation to become a geo-political player and thus the militarization of EU is comming and it will be super expensive even if it will be an EU investment bank that will problaby be the source of the loans to complete such a task, here is a link to Colin Gannon about the militarization of EU : The European Union Is Embracing Militarization (jacobin.com)
